Architecture and history

The building was erected as a holiday home around 1906 by Friedrich von Lindequist , then governor of the German South West Africa colony , and his wife Dorothea von Heydebreck. The simply designed villa was built in a country house style using natural building materials. In the upper part there is a dark horizontal wooden paneling , the gable is clad with shingles. The windows are fitted with shutters .

A great-grandson of the Lindequists renovated the house in the 1990s. It has been used as a hotel since 2002. After the hotel was re-managed in 2009, it joined the Raulff hotel chain in spring 2011. In spring 2017 the hotel was sold to Stefan Bläsing, who in turn sold it in 2019 to the Berlin real estate agent Ernst Bär from Ernst Bär Consulting KG, Berlin.

investment

There are seven hotel rooms and a fireplace room in the house. A winter garden was added to the south corner of the building , which also serves as a dining room. The hotel's own stairs lead to the beach. The hotel complex includes buildings known as forest houses located further west on the property, in which ten further hotel rooms or holiday apartments are housed. One of the three forest houses has been used as a hostel since 2016.
