history

The seven-storey hotel has the address Ulica Wilcza 73 and is a corner building on Ulica Emilii Plater. It is on the edge of Warsaw's business district and is located around 200 meters east of Aleja Niepodległości and in the immediate vicinity of the rear site of the Warsaw University of Technology . The adjacent building - erected in 1913 in the secession style - is the "Kamienica Próchnickich" (Próchnicki tenement house), in which Józef Piłsudski lived with his family from 1922 to 1923 .

The building in which the Rialto is located today was built around 1906 - also as a tenement house - which from 1930 belonged to Józef Cybulski. In its exterior design, elements of eclecticism mix with those of Art Déco . In 2001, the renovation and the simultaneous conversion of the building into a hotel began. This conversion was completed in 2003. Responsible was the Studio Architektury Cathedral , the executive Construction was the company Arcus . The owner is Mot Sp. Z oo. The walls and stairwells remained, the foundation was renewed (reinforced), lifts were installed and three additional floors were added to the old structure. When completed, it was Warsaw's first modern boutique hotel. Visually, it is entirely dedicated to the time of Warsaw's golden interwar period . The hotel has 44 individually designed and furnished rooms; From Art Nouveau to Art Deco, you will find all styles of the first 35 years of the 20th century. The antique furniture was bought at flea markets all over Europe. Six single rooms, 27 double rooms and eleven suites are available.

The hotel's restaurant (“Rialto”) is also designed in the ambience of the 1920s. It became known through its founding manager and tenant, the Swiss Kurt Scheller. There is a stained glass by Jerzy Owsiak in the hotel lobby . The Rialto was nominated in the category of the best new hotel for the "European Hotel Design Awards 2003". Venus Williams stayed here while visiting Warsaw.
