The Westin Warsaw hotel is located on the outskirts of Warsaw's financial district in the Wola district . With its glass panorama elevator tube facing the intersection, in which six ThyssenKrupp guest and service elevators operate, it is one of the most eye-catching new buildings on the main artery Aleja Jana Pawła II . With a height of 94 meters, it is currently the 22nd tallest building in Warsaw .

history

The hotel at Aleja Jana Pawła II w Warszawie 21 is part of the atrium complex that was built in the 1990s and extends along the west side of Jana Pawła II , starting at Ulica Elektoralna . The Westin Hotel was built from July 2001 to June 2003 to a design by the architects John Portman & Associates from Atlanta and Biuro Projektów Kazimierski & Ryba from Warsaw. The Hotel Atrium Sp. Z oo, whose partner was also the city of Warsaw, which contributed the building plot as a contribution, acted as investor. The general contractor was the Skanska company . The construction was financed by a contract signed in May 2001 by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and Caisse des Dépôts et Consignations (CDC) from Paris .

The property is located on the southwest side of the junction Jana Pawła II and Ulica Grzybowska and has 22 floors above ground at a height of 94 meters. The slightly higher PZU Tower is diagonally opposite . The hotel, which cost around 79.5 million euros, opened in September 2003.

The hotel consists of two wings at right angles to each other that run along the two streets. The three glass guest lifts, which run in a tube that is also glass and towers a few meters above the hotel at the north-eastern tip of the hotel, travel at a speed of 3.5 meters / second. The hotel has 366 rooms, the design of which is reminiscent of the style of the 1960s in the west. The facade of the hotel is clad with granite slabs. In addition to ten combinable conference rooms, the hotel has the "JP's" bar and the "Fusion" restaurant. An overnight stay in the presidential suite on the 20th floor of the hotel costs around 1,700 euros. The Westin is operated by the Starwood Group , which also maintains the five-star Sheraton and Bristol hotels in Warsaw .
