House of Memsie
House of Memsie , also Memsie House , is a manor house near the Scottish town of Memsie in the Council Area of Aberdeenshire . In 1972 the building was included in the Scottish monument lists in the highest monument category A.
description
The mansion is isolated around one kilometer south of the hamlet of Memsie and four kilometers southwest of the center of Fraserburgh off the A981 . Its masonry consists of broken granite and is externally plastered with Harl , with natural stone surrounds . It was built around 1760. The south-east facing main facade of the two-story Corps de Logis is five axes wide. The central projecting slightly protruding from the facade is one axis wide. It is continued over the eaves as a dwelling with a tail gable . Pavilions, which are connected to the Corps de Logis via curtain walls, flank it. The small hipped roof buildings are single-story. From the back of the building there is a small, one-story extension. The original woodwork inside was removed around 1900.
