Houston Summers IV (born October 26, 1983 in Los Angeles , California ), also known as Houston , is an American R&B singer ; not to be confused with Marques Houston , who is also an R&B singer.

life and career

Houston comes from a strictly Christian family that initially despised his decision to make secular music . From a young age, Houston performed on the streets of Los Angeles with his friends. While his friends were rapping , Houston quickly noticed his talent as a singer . His big breakthrough came in 2004 with the hit I Like That , which climbed to number 11 on the American Billboard charts .

Houston caused a stir in 2005 when he went through severe psychosis . Shortly before his appearance in London , he is said to have attempted suicide under the influence of drugs , but one of his bodyguards stopped him. In the hotel room Houston subsequently locked himself in, he ripped out his left eye in a fit of frenzy . Houston's other tour was then canceled by his management, and Houston returned to his family in Los Angeles.
