The Howard Peaks are a mountain range with an east-west orientation in the East Antarctic Victoria Land . It lies on the south side of the Tourmaline Plateau and cuts through the Deep Freeze Range .
The United States Geological Survey mapped the mountain range using its own measurements and aerial photographs by the United States Navy from 1955 to 1963. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named it in 1968 after Hugh C. Howard, cook at McMurdo Station during four summer campaigns between 1963 and 1967.
