Hoya andalensis is a plant of the genus of wax flowers ( Hoya ) of the subfamily of asclepiadoideae (Asclepiadoideae).

features

Hoya andalensis is an ephipytic , hanging plant. The shoots are green and covered with fine downy hairs. On the underside of the shoots there are numerous, rounded-cone-shaped aerial roots. The opposite leaves are stalked, the curved petioles are about 1 cm long. Most pairs of leaves are turned on one side (outside) of the shoot. The internodes are 4.5 to 7 cm long (usually around 5 cm). The leaf blades are egg-shaped, 5 cm long and 2.2 cm wide. The base is rounded to wedge-shaped, the apex is obtuse-angled. The upper side of the blades is green, the lower side is clearly lighter. The top is largely bare, just a few hairs near the base. The underside is granular with fine hairs along the midrib. The edges are curved down. Very small rudimentary glands are located at the point of attachment of the leaves.

The umbel-shaped inflorescences arise from the leaf axils and carry up to 18 flowers. The top of the mandrel is flat, it hangs down. The flowers in an inflorescence gradually open. The finely downy hairy inflorescence stalks are 5 cm long and curved. The light green, curved flower stalks are 1.5 to 2.4 cm long and measure 0.09 cm in cross section. The small sepals are granular on the outside. They do not quite reach the length of the sine formed by the petals. They are about 10 mm long and max. about 10 mm wide. The corolla has a diameter of **

The petal tips are strongly bent back and densely downy hairy on the inside. They are fused at the base, the free tips cannot be seen because they are completely hidden. The surface of the petal tips is crystal white with a slight pink tint. However, the tips of the tips are bare. The tips are 2.8 mm wide and 3.5 mm long at the base. The outside of the petal lobes is bare. The corona is sitting slightly down on the corolla. The corolla lobes just reach the sinuses that are formed by the corolla lobes. The inner process is granular at the top and does not reach the middle, the outer process is fleshy and glabrous, and at the outer end split (bifid). The anthers are membranous, triangular and incline over the stylus head.

The pollinia are elongated and narrow, the apex is rounded. They measure 590 µm in length and 190 µm in width. The caudiculae are very short, 50 µm long and 20 µm thick, and are strongly thickened at the base of the corpusculum. The corpusculum is very small, 120 µm long and 120 µm wide.

Similar Art

The species is similar to Hoya bilobata Schlechter but is significantly larger in most characteristics. Further differences are: the center of the secondary crown is yellowish with a granular top. The caudiculae are short and the corpusculum is small and ovoid.

Geographical distribution and habitat

The species is so far only of the type locality near Padang , Sumatra, Indonesia. The type specimen was collected there in a young secondary forest.

Taxonomy

The taxon Hoya andalensis was described by Robert Dale Kloppenburg in 2005. The type material comes from a plant in culture. The holotype is kept in the Herbarium of the University of California at Berkeley under # 20051. Kloppenburg placed them in the Acanthostemma (flower) Kloppenburg section. The original plant was collected by E. de Vogel and J. Vemaden near Padang, Sumatra under the number IPPS 1775.

The species is accepted as a valid taxon online by Plants of the World .
