Hoya siamica is a plant of the genus of wax flowers ( Hoya ) of the subfamily of asclepiadoideae (Asclepiadoideae).

features

Hoya siamica is an epiphytic , climbing plant with up to 1.5 m long, bare, twisting shoots. The leaves are stalked, the bare, thick petioles are 5 to 15 mm long. The fleshy leaf blades are lanceolate, oblong-lanceolate or ovate-lanceolate, 3.5 to 9.5 cm long and 1.5 to 2.2 cm wide. The apex is pointed, the base is blunt. The edges are darker and slightly bent back. The top and bottom are bare. They are dark green with easily visible, somewhat sunken leaf veins , especially the midrib. The secondary veins are somewhat irregular.

The hemispherical inflorescence consists of 10 to 18 flowers. The peduncle is 1 to 5 cm long and glabrous. The flower stalks are up to 2 cm long and glabrous. The sepals are hairy on the outside and are small, ovate-lanceolate and pointed. The white corolla has a diameter of 1.5 cm and is spread out flat. The corolla lobes are ovate-triangular, glabrous on the outside, apical on the inside and slightly downy-haired on the edges. The corolla is whitish, yellowish to reddish in the center. The staminal side coronet lobes are broadly ovate, 3 - 3.5 mm long, and stand slightly upwards. They are sunk in the middle. The edges are convex. The scent of the flowers is described as sweet. The flowers last about 7 days.

Similar Art

The species is said to be closely related to Hoya longifolia . However, this species has narrow-lanceolate to linear leaves.

Geographical distribution and habitat

According to Plants of the World online, the range of the species includes China (northwestern Yunnan ), Laos , Vietnam , Cambodia and Thailand . However, it is in the Preliminary checklist of Hoya (Asclepiadaceae) in the flora of Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam by Averyanov et al. (2017) not listed. The Flora of China only specifies northwestern Yunnan and Thailand as a distribution area. The species grows in Thailand in evergreen mountain rainforests at 1500 to 1650 m above sea level, in Yunnan even between 1500 to 2500 m above sea level.

Taxonomy

The taxon was described by William Grant Craib in 1911 . The holotype was confined to Mount Doi Sootep in Chiang Mai Province , Thailand. The holotype bears the number Kerr 724. The place of storage is not known.
