Hozumi Tanaka (jazz musician)

Hozumi Tanaka ( Japanese 田中 穂 積 , Tanaka Hozumi ; born August 18, 1948 in Tokyo Prefecture ) is a Japanese jazz musician (drums, percussion).

Tanaka played in the Japanese free jazz scene in the 1970s a . a. in the trio of Itaru Oki , with whom the first recordings were made (Homicide Classroom) . He also worked with Yuji Ohno , Kimiko Kasai , Hidefumi Toki , Toshiyuki Miyama and the New Herd Orchestra, with Anthony Braxton ( Four Compositions (1973), with Masahiko Satoh , Keiki Midorikawa ), in Masahiko Satoh's band Garandoh , in Now Music Ensemble ( Inspiration & Power 14 (1973), with Tadashi Yoshida , Kazutoshi Kakubari , Yoshiaki Fujikawa , Hiroaki Katayama , Keiki Midorikawa) and with Stomu Yamashta's formation East Wind . In the field of jazz he was involved in nine recording sessions between 1970 and 1975.
