The Huà Shān ( Chinese 華山 / 华山 ) is one of the five sacred mountains in Shaanxi Province near the county town of Huayin in the People's Republic of China .
The mountain range is famous for its steep, picturesque rock faces and dangerous climbs to the top. Several peaks up to 2155 m are connected by mountain paths. There are monasteries, pagodas, temples, bridges and gates along the paths.
In the ancient Chinese worldview, which viewed the Middle Kingdom as a square, the Hua Shan mountain range embodies the western corner mountain.
The Dongdao Temple , one of the 21 most important Taoist temple on the list of China's State Council , is located in Hua Shan.
