Hubert Bradel

Hubert Bradel (born March 31, 1920 in Gleiwitz -Oehringen; † June 13, 2002 in Raisdorf ) was a German horn player .

Hubert Bradel began his instrumental training as a child on the violin . He found his first access to the French horn at the age of 15 through studying at the Breslau Music Academy. From 1938 he became a member of the Silesian Philharmonic Orchestra in Breslau, which was soon ended when he was called up for military service.

After the war and recovery from wounds, Hubert Bradel began in the Philharmonic Orchestra of the Hanseatic City of Lübeck in 1947, initially as a violist and soon again as a horn player, most recently as a solo horn player. In 1950 he switched to the NDR Symphony Orchestra in Hamburg.

From 1959 to 1974 Hubert Bradel was a member of the Hamburg Philharmonic State Orchestra and during this time a member of the Bayreuth Festival for many years . During this time he played under the direction of Hans Knappertsbusch , Wilhelm Furtwängler , Karl Böhm , Joseph Keilberth , Wolfgang Sawallisch and Horst Stein .

From 1974 to 1979 he taught as a professor at the Tokyo University of Fine Arts and Music and at the Musashino Academy of Music in Tokyo.

From 1979 until the end of his life he campaigned intensively for hunting music in Schleswig-Holstein, taking part in numerous competitions and holding the Hubertus fair in the Plön district and in Denmark.
