Hubert Giertz

Hubert Giertz (born April 28, 1884 in Breitscheid ; † January 6, 1966 in Cologne ) was a priest and official in the Archdiocese of Cologne .

Ordained a priest on March 6, 1909 in Cologne , he took on a chaplaincy at St. Engelbert in Essen from April 13, 1909 and one at St. Johann Baptist in Barmen from March 8, 1912 . Since May 9, 1921 assistant to the Vicariate General of the Archdiocese of Cologne, he became secretary there on April 1, 1924. Since June 6, 1928 he has worked as a deputy promoter iustitiae , on November 19, 1931, he was appointed defensor matrimonii and finally on October 14, 1932, he was appointed examining magistrate for matrimonial matters at the Archbishop's Office.

After he had also assumed the office of chairman of the Diocesan Boniface Society on October 8, 1945 and the office of prosynodal examiners on August 11, 1947, Giertz was relieved of official duties on September 2, 1948, but was re-confirmed as synodal examiners in 1954.
