Hubert Hauser (* 1856 ; † May 16, 1913 in Friesach ) was an Austrian businessman and local researcher .

Hubert Hauser is the grandfather of the National Councilor Heinz Gärtner and the great-grandfather of the political scientist Heinz Gärtner .

Hubert Hauser made a decisive contribution to the preservation of the city of Friesach's cultural assets. In addition to activities to the tourism to promote, such as the construction of a sports field, tennis courts, a shooting range, a full, swimming and tub baths, from bowling alleys, a children's playground, cycling association of amateurs - or actresses performances at the Municipal Theater, holding of promenade concerts, Founding of a housing committee for information to summer guests, creation of walking paths with benches, facilities with viewpoints, the preservation of Petersberg Castle is his merit.

In 1881 he was a co-founder of the city beautification society, of which he was also chairman . He named as one of his most important goals “to prevent the destruction of ruins and the dragging away of antiquities”. In 1892, with the support of the government, it became possible to acquire the ruins of St. The gradual renovation was carried out with funds from the Beautification Association, through collections and charity events.

On May 16, 1913, while inspecting renovation work on the keep of the Petersberg, he fell into the depths and succumbed to serious injuries.

The Hauserstein on Petersberg is his simple monument. Furthermore, a street in Friesach was named after him.
