Hubert Reimer

Hubert Reimer (born February 23, 1939 in Memel ) is a German prehistorian .

Hubert Reimer passed his Abitur in 1958 and then did his military service until 1960. From 1960 to 1964 he studied at the Karl Marx University of Leipzig (KMUL) and in 1964 became a graduate historian. This was followed by a scientific aspiration that lasted until 1968. During this time, he went to Chile for a research stay in 1966 . In 1968 Reimer became a member of the “New Building” staff group at Leipzig University. The doctorate took place in January 1969 on the subject of the settlement of the Chilean central zone from 8th to 16th Century u. Z. He then became an employee in the prehistory and ancient history department at Leipzig University. 1982 followed the PhD B with Rigobert Günther on The Visigoths. Attempt of an archaeological-historical study . Since February 1983 Reimer has been teaching as an extraordinary lecturer for prehistory and early history at the KMUL.

Reimer made particular contributions to the original and study collections of the University of Leipzig, which he first fully inventoried in 1974 as the person responsible for the collection and assistant in the prehistoric department. Due to his relationship with Chile, which he had acquired not least through his research stay, Reimer also developed into a Chile expert, he is a member of the Society for International Understanding , of which he is one of the founding members.
