Hubertus Brantzen

Hubertus Brantzen (born August 30, 1949 in Mainz-Mombach ) is a German Catholic theologian.

Life

After studying Catholic theology, philosophy and German studies, Brantzen initially worked as a pastoral advisor in the diocese of Mainz from 1974 to 1979 . From 1979 to 1984 he worked as a research assistant for Heribert Gauly at the University of Mainz and in 1983, with the work on family spirituality using the example of a Christian weekly newspaper, he became a Dr. theol. PhD. With the study “Community as home. Integrating Pastoral Care from a Semiotic Perspective ” , he completed his habilitation in pastoral theology at the University of Friborg / Switzerland in 1991 . From 1984 to 2014, Brantzen was the training manager responsible for the practical pastoral training and professional introduction of pastoral assistants and the chaplains of the diocese of Mainz. In 1991 he was appointed professor for pastoral theology at the Mainz seminary .

He has been married to Maria-Theresia Brantzen since 1972 and has four children with her. He is a member of the Schoenstatt Movement .
