The team was founded in 2008 as a franchise of the Eastern Professional Hockey League , which was held for the first time . In their only season, the Hudson Valley Bears finished fourth and thus last place of the regular season. After the league ceased playing at the end of the 2008/09 season, so did the Hudson Valley Bears.
