Hugh Hastings, de jure 10th Baron Hastings

Sir Hugh Hastings (1437 - June 7, 1488 ) was an English knight and de jure 10th Baron Hastings .

Life

He was a son of John Hastings (1410–1477), de jure 9th Baron Hastings, and Anne, daughter of Thomas de Morley, 5th Baron Morley . Between 1479 and 1480 he was sheriff of Yorkshire .

He fought with Richard Duke of Gloucester , later King Richard III. , 1482 in the capture of Berwick-upon-Tweed , which was one of Scotland belonged, and was there on 24 July 1482 from the latter to Knight Banneret beaten .

The following year Sir Hugh was again at Richard III's side. in battle, this time against Henry Stafford, 2nd Duke of Buckingham , who started a rebellion against Richard III. which went down in history as "Buckingham's Rebellion".

Sir Hugh Hastings did not hold the title of Baron Hastings during his lifetime, as this had been suspended since 1389 due to a dispute over the inheritance. It was not until 1841 that his Hastings family line was given the title retrospectively.

He died on June 7, 1488.

He was married to Anne, daughter of Sir William Gascoigne of Gawthorpe in Yorkshire. The couple had the following children:
