Hughes & Kettner is the brand name of a product line of the Stamer Group , which mainly represents guitar amplifiers and guitar effects devices. The product range extends from traditional all-tube amplifiers to digital modeling amplifiers.

history

Hughes & Kettner was founded in 1984 by the brothers Lothar and Hans Stamer in Münchwies near Neunkirchen . The company initially only produced loudspeaker boxes , which are still manufactured and sold today under the HK Audio label. It was not until 1986 that the product range was expanded to include guitar amplifiers that they had developed themselves.

In 1987, as part of its expansion, the company moved to St. Wendel , where it is still located today.

With the move, the company was reorganized. The tasks of development and production on the one hand and marketing and sales on the other hand were taken over by two newly founded sister companies: Stamer Musikanlagen GmbH and Music & Sales Professional Equipment GmbH .

Innovative products contributed to the success of the Hughes & Kettner brand . For example, in 1985 the AS 64 was the first digitally controlled and programmable guitar amplifier, and in 1988 the ATS 100, the first hybrid tube amplifier. In addition to the technical innovations, the high-quality workmanship of the products ensured that Hughes & Kettner quickly gained recognition in music circles and became one of the leading manufacturers of guitar amplifiers in Germany in the 1990s.
