Hugo Goldschmidt

Hugo Goldschmidt (born September 19, 1859 in Breslau ; † December 26, 1920 in Wiesbaden ) was a German musicologist and provided fundamental work on the history of vocal music .

Life

Goldschmidt was the son of the landlord, first acquired a doctorate in law, and was in Berlin from 1893–1905 . From 1905 co-director of the Scharwenka Conservatory in Berlin and became a professor in 1918. He was a student of the Breslau University Music Director Julius Schäffer and himself a baritone singer. He later lived in Nice and Wiesbaden.
