Hugo Müller (mountaineer)

Hugo Müller (born June 21, 1883 in Wohlen ; † March 24, 1961 ) was a Swiss mountaineer , doctor and author .

Life

Hugo Müller grew up as the son of a doctor in Wohlen in Aargau , studied medicine and took over his father's practice. Early on, he began mountaineering, where he, together with large enterprises in itself Alps especially the myths and the Salbitschijen devoted.

He is considered the discoverer of the climbing area on the Salbitschijen, where he carried out several first ascents and promoted the construction of the Salbithütte of the Lindenberg section of the Swiss Alpine Club, which was inaugurated in 1931 . He was President of the Lindenberg Section from 1910–1934 and 1941–1946, and in 1945 became an honorary member.

With the guide for the myths he created a pioneering work of alpine guides. In the yearbooks and magazines of the SAC he published several reports on his mountain trips. He was also a pioneer of alpine skiing.
