Hugo Rau

Hugo Rau (born December 26, 1856 in Dettingen an der Erms , † 1940) was a Württemberg chief bailiff.

Hugo Rau was a son of the deacon and parish administrator Karl Gottlieb David Rau and his second wife Sophie, nee. Short. He attended the Latin School in Schorndorf from 1866 to 1870 and the Lyceum in Reutlingen from 1870 to 1874 . He then studied in Tübingen and passed the first higher service examination at the Ministry of the Interior in 1880 and the second in 1881. In the spring of 1880 he began his professional career as a government trainee at the Oberamt Leonberg. In 1881 he was actuarial administrator at the Oberamt Backnang and from 1882 to 1883 at the Oberamt Freudenstadt. In 1883 he became an official at the Maulbronn Oberamt and in 1884 a police commissioner at the City Police Office in Stuttgart. In 1887 he moved to the Medical College, where he was employed as an expeditor with the title of secretary. As Oberamtmann he headed the Oberamt Münsingen from 1893 to 1902 and the Oberamt Gmünd from 1902 to 1924 . Hugo Rau retired in 1924.
