Hulbee is a software and technology company based in Egnach (Switzerland) and researches in the field of artificial intelligence. Hulbee AG concentrates on information analysis and search.

In contrast to other, far more common search engines, the Hulbee search engine does not store any data about its users: neither the IP address , nor tracking cookies, nor the search terms themselves. A profile is therefore not created. The operator therefore advertises the search as an anonymous search. Because the servers are in Switzerland, the data is subject to similarly rigorous data protection guidelines as in Germany, but at the same time not subject to the legislation of the European Union . Mutual assistance agreements and similar enforcement agreements between the European Union and the United States are therefore ineffective.
Semantic search
While major American search engines such as Google orient their suggestions on the most frequently requested hits for a search term, Hulbee is based on a semantic search : the entered key word (white) is displayed on the left side of the page in a cloud of neighboring, frequently searched key terms . The larger the rectangle for a neighboring search term in the term cloud, the more often it was searched for.
With the keyword “aspirin”, for example, the hulbee term cloud contains the terms “heart attack” and “fever lowering” in addition to the term “pain”. By clicking on one of these terms (i.e. the corresponding tile), the user can indicate whether he is interested in the analgesic, antipyretic or blood-thinning effects of the drug, and further narrow the search accordingly. Accordingly, the search can be gradually refined until you finally find what you want.
In addition, hulbee's semantic search for a specific search term also lists texts or media that do not explicitly contain the search term but are related to it (so-called thematic search ). Even without the user having entered the exact search term, he can find such documents by simply selecting the corresponding key word in the term cloud.
Youth-free content
The Hulbee company promises that with the help of special filter techniques, hits will not refer to explicitly violent or pornographic content. Appropriate lexicon entries or news pages, however, are displayed. The search engine is particularly suitable for children and young people.
Others
Hulbee was based on the results of the Yahoo search engine around 2009 and later on the results of the Bing search engine until 2015 . Since then, the web search engine has been an in-house development.
Development of the search engine
The search engine was launched in 2009 under the name Hulbee . Since September 2014 it has also been offering an image search. Hulbee also offers a translator, video search and music search with an integrated player. In June 2015, the Swisscows search engine was renamed Hulbee. The Hulbee search engine has been available in the USA since August 2015 and in 60 countries since September 2015.

The search engine hulbee is also financed by displaying context-sensitive advertising above and to the right of the search results ( ad advertisement ), but this advertising only relates to the search term, not to the user's search history. (With other providers, not only previous search terms, but ultimately information from uploaded photos of the user - for example the quality and age of the camera as well as the location where holiday photos were taken - can be included).
With Hulbee Desktop , the company Hulbee AG offers a software application for desktop searches for private users (standard version) and companies (PRO version).
Since November 2015, Hulbee AG has been offering a corporate solution for searches in the company network under the name Swisscows Company Search , which particularly addresses medium-sized companies. Both companies and public institutions such as B. the Landschaftsverband Rheinland (LVR) use Hulbee as a search engine.
Hulbee AG developed the price comparison portal KlickDrauf.de .
