One hundred meter house
The Hundert-Meter-Haus was a listed greenhouse in the city of Quedlinburg in Saxony-Anhalt .
location
It was located east of the historic Quedlinburger Neustadt on the west side of Ditfurter Weg at the address Ditfurter Weg 21a.
Architecture and history
The earth greenhouse was built in 1927 on behalf of the Wehrenpfennig nursery as an experimental building. The name of the greenhouse goes back to the unusual length of the building. The nursery was founded in 1876.
In 1998 the Hundert-Meter-Haus was still registered in the Quedlinburg Monument Register, but was then demolished at the beginning of the 21st century. The massive farm buildings that belonged to the original nursery plant and are now (as of 2013) are used for social purposes. The chimney, built with yellow bricks, goes back to the nursery and is striking.
