The Hunneschans , also Hunenschans , is an early medieval ring wall on the Uddelermeer in the Netherlands . It is located on the Veluwe near the town of Uddel near Apeldoorn in the province of Gelderland .

The 80 to 100 meter diameter fortification was built by the Saxons and used in the Carolingian era.

The first archaeological excavations took place at the end of the 19th century. Studies by Jan Hendrik Holwerda in 1908/1909, Jacques GN Renaud in 1966 and H. Anthonie Heidinga in 1983 and 1984 followed.

The site gives its name to the late Carolingian Hunneschans ceramics .
