Hurricane Tyra Black (born March 2, 2001 ) is an American tennis player .

Career

Black started playing tennis at the age of three, preferring hard courts. So far she has mainly played on the ITF Women's World Tennis Tour , where she has not yet won a title.

In 2018 and 2019 she played the single and double junior competitions at the four Grand Slam tournaments. With her partner Lea Ma reached at the US Open in 2018 in the junior double the knockout stages, in junior double the French Open in 2019 the quarter-finals, as well as in Wimbledon with Shavit Kimchi the knockout stages. In the other double competitions as well as the individual competitions, she failed in the first round.

Personal

Hurricane Tyra is the younger sister of Tornado Alicia Black , who is also a professional tennis player.

Her mother, Gayal Black, named her daughters after types of storms, hence the first names "Hurricane" and "Tornado" as part of a marketing strategy for their tennis careers.
