The Hurth gearbox and gears GmbH was a German industrial companies . HURTH gearboxes are still in use today in numerous marine applications and rail vehicles .

history

The company was founded by Carl Hurth in 1896 under the name "Carl Hurth Maschinen und Zahnradfabrik" in Munich - Isarvorstadt on Holzstrasse. It developed continuously and in 1969 had around 3000 employees. From 1985 onwards, the company's headquarters were at Moosacher Strasse 36 in Munich- Am Riesenfeld . In 1992 VEB Getriebewerk Gotha was taken over, which then operated under the name HURTH-Getriebewerk Gotha GmbH. In 1995 parts of the company were merged into the Gleason Corporation , which continues the business as Gleason-Hurth , which in 2015 employed around 300 people at three production sites in Europe. The rail technology, marine and industrial truck business areas of the Hurth Group were taken over by ZF Friedrichshafen AG in 1995 and incorporated into the ZF Group. In 2012 the GmbH was deleted from the commercial register.
