August Lebrecht Stettin

August Lebrecht Stettin (born September 8, 1725 in Halle (Saale) , † September 5, 1779 in Ulm ) was a German bookseller and publisher .

Life

Stettin initially worked in Stuttgart as a partner of Johann Benedict Metzler in the JB Metzler'sche publishing bookstore . In 1766 he went to Ulm, where he took over the Gaum'sche Buchhandlung, which from then on operated as the Stettinische Buchhandlung and existed until 1876. At the same time he had married Euphrosine Regine Baur.

He is considered one of the most important booksellers of the second half of the 18th century. Among other things, he published several magazines and Christian Friedrich Sattler's history of Württemberg under the government of Graven and history of Württemberg under the government of the dukes .

Stettin was buried in Ulm on September 8, 1779.
