Albrecht Weyermann (theologian)

Albrecht Weyermann (born April 1, 1763 in Ulm , † December 28, 1832 in Würtingen ) was a German Lutheran clergyman , theologian and literary historian .

Life

Weyermann was the son of a soldier who later worked as a publisher. Until 1792 he attended the Ulm high school and then went to study theology at the Tübingen monastery . He completed his studies in 1795 and then passed the ministerial examination . During this time he was already working on his work on the personalities of Ulm. In 1797 he came to the Ulm orphanage as a catechist.

Weyermann was transferred as parish vicar to Riedheim near Leipheim in 1801 and to Setzingen in 1802 . After a stint as a deacon in Bermaringen and as a pastor in Temmenhausen , he got the pastorate of Gutenberg near Lenningen in 1812 and the pastorate of Gerstetten in 1818 . On February 1st, 1822 Albrecht Weyermann was appointed pastor in Würtingen. He remained in this position until the end of his life.

He was particularly known for his biographical dictionaries.
