history
Husarö was first mentioned in the 13th century. At that time still under the name Husarn in King Waldemar's sailing route . In 1719, Husarö, like many other islands in the vicinity, was hit by the Russian devastation . There were pilots on the island from the 15th century. Husarö was given the status of an official pilotage post in 1740. At the same time, the fairway was led past the island and Finnhamn. The pilots from Husarö piloted the ships north to Furusund and south to Sandhamn on the sailing vessels of that time . During the 19th century there were around 15 pilots working on Husarö, but over time the number decreased and in 1912 the pilot station was finally closed. After the steamships of the time began regular traffic with the island in 1881 , more and more summer guests came gradually.
The Husarö scoutgård foundation has been running camps for confirmands in Husarö Scoutgård since 1958 . The Scoutgård ( German scout garden ) is located in the old island school, which was closed in 1950. There is also a camp site on the southern side . For at least 50 years there find camps for children and youth organizations of the Church of Sweden instead.
