Huy (soldier scribe)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Huy was the king's scribe to the Lord of the Two Lands and scribe to the soldiers of the Lord of the Two Lands at the end of the 18th Dynasty of Ancient Egypt . He is known for three blocks of his grave decorated in relief and a double statue. His grave was at the Teti pyramid in Saqqara . A block was found on Lepsius' expedition , who brought him to Berlin in 1845. It is now in the Egyptian Museum Berlin (Inv. No. 2087). Another block was excavated by James Edward Quibelldiscovered at the Teti pyramid and published by him. He also found a statue of Huy and his wife Merysachmet. Another block from the grave is now in a magazine in Saqqara. The location is unknown.

There is no king's name on the blocks of his grave. Huy can only be dated stylistically, according to which he probably lived at the end of the 18th dynasty.
