Hvelreki is the sixth studio album by Belgian musician Ozark Henry . It was released on October 28, 2011 on EMI Music .
History of origin
Hvelreki is Henry's first album for the EMI Music record company. In total, Ozark Henry wrote more than 50 songs in two years, of which he selected the best for the album. It was produced by the British music producer Martin Glover , who works under the pseudonym Youth. He also put together the band with whom the songs were finally recorded live. In addition to Henry and Youth, this included sound engineer Tim Bran as keyboardist, guitarist Martin Chandler and drummer David Nock.
As for the name of the album, Ozark Henry said:
“Literally translated it means, 'May a whole whale be stranded with you'. It is a saying to wish someone luck. I wrote the songs for this album as I traveled the world. During this time there was this huge global financial crisis . So you can see my album as my answer, with which I wish everyone all the best. I want to say: Don't give up, everything will be better. "
Hvelreki was released in Belgium as a jewel case and as a “Luxury Edition” in a digipak . This limited edition contains two additional songs and an extensive booklet with pictures and the lyrics of the album.
The album was released in Germany on April 15, 2011.

Song info
Out of this World was inspired by a track and field athlete whom Henry observed at a world championship and who failed in the final run due to pressure to perform. This One's for You was created together with the songwriter Boots Ottestadt (among others worked for Robbie Williams ) and is about the chance for a new beginning. Godspeed addresses global warming . With 're Miss You When You Here and Yours and Yours Only is about love relationships, while the former accentuated the theme of alienation, treated the latter the subject of obsession.
music
The music magazine Intro describes the music as “Dreampop, which is always shaped by the catchy melody arc.” Henry's music lies between “euphoric pop and dramatic rock” and is reminiscent of film music in places. Henry's singing covers rather clear singing up to falsetto .

This One's for You was released as a single a week before the album was released and reached number 3 on the singles charts. The album itself reached number 1 on the Belgian charts , both in Flanders and Wallonia . The single was awarded a gold record on December 31, 2010 and the album was awarded a platinum record on December 24, 2010 .
