The hybrid gap flower ( Schizanthus × wisetonensis ) is a species of the genus Schizanthus in the nightshade family (Solanaceae).

features

The hybrid gap flower is an annual plant that reaches heights of growth of 70 to 90 centimeters. It is often covered with black to brown-headed glandular hair and bristles. The leaves are pinnate to pinnate and measure 7 to 19 × 3 to 6 centimeters. The stamens are as long as the corolla tube or shorter. The crown is colored red or purple, the middle tip of the upper lip has yellow spots on a dark purple or red background. The corolla tube is shorter than the calyx lobes .

Flowering time is from July to September.

Systematics

The hybrid split flower is a hybrid . It was cultivated in Europe around 1900 from a cross of Schizanthus grahamii and Schizanthus pinnatus .

use

The hybrid slit flower is widely used as an ornamental plant for summer flower beds and as a pot plant. The very diverse clan is the most important of its kind. There are numerous varieties. The Compakta variety group is only 30 to 40 centimeters high.
