Hydrofoil

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In Hydro wings is wings of vessels (especially hydrofoils rare, even by seaplanes ).

The wing lifts the vehicle out of the water while driving. Since only a small part of the vehicle is below the surface of the water, the displacement and the frictional resistance are considerably reduced.

The Piaggio P.7 is one of the rare seaplanes with hydraulic wings .

For normal planing boats with outboard motors , small hydrofoils are available for retrofitting, which are attached directly to the outboard motor. The aim is to raise the stern out of the water faster to slow down the planing speed and generally raise the boat further out of the water to reduce frictional drag. In addition, fins are usually attached to these wings to improve straight-line stability.
