Hyleas Fountain

Hyleas Fountain (born January 14, 1981 in Columbus ) is a former heptathlete from the USA . With a height of 1.70 m, her competition weight was 60 kg.

Fountain achieved her first performance over 6500 points in 2005 in Götzis with 6502 points. At the World Championships in Helsinki in 2005 , she was twelfth with 6055 points. At the World Indoor Championships in Moscow in 2006 , she reached eighth place in the pentathlon with 4205 points.

Fountain first took part in the Olympic Games in Beijing in 2008 . After she had won the first two disciplines and was in the lead, she fell back due to poor performance in the shot put and javelin throwing , but still achieved third place with a personal best of 6619 points. In front of her lay the two Ukrainians Natalja Dobrynska and Ljudmyla Blonska , the latter of whom, however, was stripped of the silver medal for doping. Fountain moved up and was awarded the silver medal. At the World Indoor Championships in 2010 , she first came fourth with a continental record of 4753 points, then was awarded the bronze medal after Tatyana Chernova was disqualified from doping .
