Hynek Blaško

Hynek Blaško (born July 15, 1955 in Prague ) is a Czech officer . He was named major general on May 8, 2006 . In 2012 he went to the military reserve. Since 2019 he has sat in the European Parliament as one of two members of the Svoboda a přímá demokracie (Freedom and Direct Democracy), which is also perceived as right-wing extremist .

Life

Blaško is a graduate of the Army College (Vysoká vojenská škola pozemního vojska) in Vyškov (graduation 1978) and the Brno Military Academy ( postgraduate studies , graduation 1986). In addition, he completed training at the command academy of the Bundeswehr (1994).

Blaško was appointed Chief of Staff in 1994 and two years later commander of the 4th Rapid Reaction Brigade (brigáda rychlého nasazení) established in 1994. In 1999 he took over command of the newly established 1st Mechanized Division in Brno; he held this post until 2004. He then represented his country at SHAPE for two years . On his return he became Deputy Commander-in-Chief and in 2008 finally Commander-in-Chief of the Allied Forces (společné síly).

In addition to his mother tongue, Blaško speaks English and German. He was the father of a son. His son Jakub was murdered by a homosexual pedophile in 2009. This murder received a lot of media coverage.

In the 2019 European elections he was elected to the European Parliament for the Freedom and Direct Democracy party.
