Hynobius is a genus of Caudates (caudata) from the family of Asiatic salamander .
features
The skin of these newts is smooth. The extremities each have five toes. Lungs are present. The teeth of the palate are lined up at a V-shaped angle. Rib furrows and bulges in the ear are well developed. The tail is flattened laterally. The larvae are limnophilic , which means that the larval phase is spent in still waters.
Occurrence
The range of the species of this genus includes Japan, Korea, China and the far east of Russia. It may also be found in Central Asia , on the territory of the former USSR between Pamir and Samarqand .
