Hyou Vielz

Hyou Johannes Vielz (* 1959 in Cologne ) is a German concert and portrait photographer who works primarily in the field of jazz .

Vielz lives as a freelance photo journalist in Cologne. Since 1982 he has been supplying daily newspapers with jazz photos. In 1984 a portrait of Miles Davis he took appeared on the cover of Down Beat magazine . As a photographer, he has contributed the images to several photo books. He also took photos for the covers of numerous albums for ECM Records , Enja , Konnex Records and JazzHausMusik . At the beginning of his work he concentrated exclusively on jazz and jazz-related music. Later he took photos more often in the field of classical and new music , including in the Cologne Philharmonic .
