Hypatius Chronicle

The Hypatiuschronik ( Russian Ипатьевская летопись ; Ukrainian Іпатіївський літопис, літопис Іпатський, Літопис руський за Іпатським списком ; Belarusian Іпацьеўскі летапіс ) is a manuscript from the 15th century , which by the Russian historian Nikolai Karamzin in ipatievsky monastery of Kostroma was discovered. The manuscript is a compilation and contains copies of the Nestor Chronicle - the Kiev Chronicle from the 12th century - and the Galician-Volhyn Chronicle from the 13th century.

The document is written in Church Slavonic with many Eastern Slavisms . The chronicle has been in the Russian National Library in Saint Petersburg since 1810 .

The report contained in the Chronicle of Hypatius about the reception of the Prince of Novgorod-Seversky by Prince Yuri Dolgoruki in a city called "Moskow" in 1147 is considered to be the first written mention of Moscow .
