Hypseus (son of Peneius)

Hypseus ( Greek  Ὑψεύς ) is a figure in Greek mythology .

Hypseus was a son of the river god Peneios and the naiad Creusa and the brother of the Stilbe . His birth took place in the gorges of the Pindus . He later rose to be king of the Lapiths of Thessaly . With the naiad Chlidanope he had the daughters Themisto , Astyageia , Alkaia and the nymph Cyrene .
