The Seoul National University Gymnasium is a sports facility in Seoul , South Korea . The multi-purpose hall is located on the Seoul National University campus in Gwanak-gu and is now used by the university for sports and educational purposes.

history

The sports facility was built for the 1988 Summer Olympics in South Korea and was completed in 1986. The table tennis and badminton competitions were held in this multifunctional hall at the 1988 Olympics. The latter only had the status of a demonstration sport and therefore no official Olympic badminton champions were determined. Table tennis, on the other hand, was part of the Olympic program for the first time. After the Olympics, the hall will continue to be used as a sports facility, including for the Korea Open in badminton. The hall has a capacity of 5,000 seats.
