LetsRun Park Seoul
LetsRun Park Seoul , also known as Seoul Race Park or Seoul Racecourse Park, is a gallop racetrack in Gwacheon , Gyeonggi-do , South Korea for 40,000 visitors. The most important Korean horse races are held there, including the Korean Derby, the Grand Prix and several other group races . LetsRun Park Seoul is operated by the Korea Racing Authority (KRA) and is located near the Seoul Racecourse Park stop on Line 4 of the Seoul Metropolitan Subway .
Facilities
The LetsRun Park houses two left-hand sand racing tracks, the inner track is 1,600 m long, the outer track is 1,900 m long. Both lanes are 23 m wide and widen to 30 m on the 450 m long home straight. The racecourse has two grandstands, the Happy Ville grandstand 35,000 and the Lucky Ville grandstand 42,000 spectators.
There are two stable areas on the site. There is space for 700 horses in the Juam Stables and 600 horses in the Sampo Stables . The Family Park is located within the racetracks , with rose gardens, pony rides, racing simulators and other attractions.
The Horse Museum shows around 1500 exhibits, some of them from the time before the Three Kingdoms , which are therefore over 2000 years old, and around 300 exhibits from the time of the Three Kingdoms, i.e. from the 1st century BC to the 7th century after Christ. There are also around 100 pieces from the Goryeo Empire (10th ~ 14th centuries), around 300 from the Joseon Dynasty (14th ~ 19th centuries) and over 700 from more recent times.
history
In 1983 the KRA was commissioned to build the Olympic venues for the riding competitions of the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul. After the riding competitions of the 1988 Summer Olympics were successfully held on the site, the park became LetsRun Park Seoul for horse races in September 1989.
Race days
Friday, Saturday and Sunday are racing days, with the exception of special holidays. There are 12 to 16 races on each race day, with breaks of half an hour to a full hour. In midsummer from mid-July to mid-August, the races are floodlit at night due to the great heat to protect the horses.
