The Hypsidoridae are an extinct family from the order of the catfish-like (Siluriformes) and the only family of the superfamily Hypsidoroidea. The family is known from finds of two species from the strata of the Middle Eocene : Hypsidoris farsonensis from Wyoming and Hypsidoris oregonensis from Oregon .
In contrast to all catfish living today, apart from the primitive catfish, the animals have teeth on a well-developed upper jaw bone . They have a supraoperculum over the gill cover and six infraorbital bones. The caudal fin has 17 primary rays.
