Iorwerth Eiddon Stephen Edwards

Iorwerth Eiddon Stephen Edwards CBE (born July 21, 1909 in London , † September 24, 1996 ibid) was a British Egyptologist .

Iorwerth Eiddon Stephen Edwards was initially the most senior Egyptologist in the Department of Egyptian and Assyrian Antiquities, and from 1955 to 1974 director of the now independent Egyptian Department of the British Museum in London . He was succeeded by Thomas Garnet Henry James . Edwards was particularly specialized in the Egyptian pyramids . Since 1962 he was a member ( fellow ) of the British Academy .
