The 1st IBSA World Championships , (English: IBSA World Games or IBSA World Championships and Games ), the International Blind Sports Federation (International Blind Sports Federation ), took place from July 18 to 26, 1998 in Madrid (Spain). The competitions included: blind football , goalball , judo and swimming .

The event was so successful that the association decided to hold a second across the Atlantic . This took place from August 5th to 10th, 2003 in Quebec (Canada).
