Ralf Schmidt , also known as Falkenberg , formerly IC or IC Falkenberg (born September 10, 1960 in Halle (Saale) ) is a German singer, lyricist, composer, producer and photographer.

Life

Schmidt trained as a locksmith. At the age of ten, Ralf Schmidt sang as a soloist in the Stadtsingechor zu Halle and in opera roles at the Landestheater in his hometown of Halle. At the age of 14 he led his first band. After that he was a singer in various local bands. In 1983 Martin Schreier brought him to Berlin as the front man for Stern Meißen , at that time one of the most successful bands in the GDR. Stern Meißen gave around 150 concerts every year. Two albums, in the production of which Ralf Schmidt set the tone, received awards and placements in the radio charts. Many of the successful titles were catchy, poppy, radio-compliant three-minute titles. At the same time, Ralf Schmidt started a solo career as "IC" from 1985, with which he continued his success. In Amiga two solo albums were released. The name IC ( Integrated Circuit ) stands for his interest in the new possibilities of electronic music production; Falkenberg is the maiden name of his mother. In 1988 he won first prize at a talent festival in Bregenz with the song Dein Herz . In 1989 he started an excursion into electronic dance music (project "Delta Dreams" with Andreas Bicking).

Ralf Schmidt is a volunteer ambassador for the Children's Hospice Foundation for Central Germany Nordhausen eV in Tambach-Dietharz.

Schmidt lives in Halle (Saale) and has two sons.
