IDS Scheer was founded in 1984 by August-Wilhelm Scheer as a spin-off of the Institute of Economics computer science of the Saarland University founded and served over 7,500 clients in more than seventy countries with its own branch offices and partners. The ARIS architecture, a comprehensive framework for business process management developed by Scheer, also provided the basis for the consulting services.
Until 2009, the company was divided into the business areas ARIS Products , Consulting and External Products. The abbreviation IDS stood for Integrated Data Processing Systems . In addition to the ARIS platform, the areas of responsibility included SAP , Business Intelligence , Service Oriented Architecture , Governance , Risk and Compliance Management, and Supply Chain Management . The Managed Services division with 110 employees at the Freiburg location had also been active since 2005 .
Until 2009 IDS Scheer was Germany's third largest software manufacturer, behind SAP and Software AG . In Germany , the company was one of the top 10 IT service providers; in Central and Eastern Europe it was one of the market leaders. Until October 2009 it was listed on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange in the TecDAX and was one of the 110 top stock market values, also known as the DAX110.
Software AG
On July 13, 2009, Software AG made a voluntary public takeover offer for IDS Scheer Consulting. Software AG already held 90 percent of the shares in December 2009 and has now concluded a domination and profit and loss transfer agreement with IDS Scheer.
In May 2010, Software AG held 91.22 percent of the shares through its subsidiary SAG Beteiligungs-GmbH , while 8.78 percent remained in free float . On December 21, 2010, IDS Scheer was completely merged with Software AG.
In this phase, IDS Scheer Consulting GmbH was part of the Consulting and Services division of Software AG, while the ARIS range was transferred to the Business Process Excellence (BPE) division.
Refurbishment and return to Scheer
On April 1, 2014, the acquisition of IDS Scheer Consulting GmbH by Scheer Group GmbH was announced. The founder August-Wilhelm Scheer bought back the consulting part of his company. On September 26, 2014 it was announced that IDS Scheer Consulting would be restructured in a protective shield process . This procedure was a novelty in bankruptcy law that was only introduced in 2012, is similar to the American Chapter 11 and is intended to facilitate restructuring while avoiding permanent bankruptcy.
At IDS Scheer Consulting, one hundred of the last four hundred jobs had been cut in the course of the restructuring by January 2015.
In March 2015, the merger of the existing Scheer Management GmbH with IDS Scheer Consulting to form Scheer GmbH was announced.
