IFTTT (the abbreviation of If This Then That , pronounced "ift" as in "Gift") is a service provider for the individual linking of web applications.

The application was developed by Linden Tibbets and went live in 2010.

function

IFTTT allows users to create conditional statements on an “If this then that” principle. The program calls the conditional statements "recipes". The “This” part of a recipe is called a trigger. Examples of a trigger are “I was tagged in a photo on Facebook ” or “I checked into Foursquare ”. The "that" part of a recipe is called an action. Examples of actions are “send me a text message” or “create a status message on Facebook”. The combination of trigger and action is called a recipe. IFTTT offers triggers and actions for more than 250 services such as Twitter , Foursquare, Flickr , Telegram and Facebook.

Awards

IFTTT has received commendation from Forbes , Time , Wired , The New York Times , and Reader's Digest . The app received the 2015 Global Mobile Awards jury prize for the best mobile app.
