IOU-Ramps is a manufacturer of indoor and outdoor skate parks and since 2006 also of snowboard parks (IOU-Snow).

history

The company was founded in Passau in 1988 by the carpenter Andreas Schützenberger . IOU stands for “Innovative - Original - Unique” and was originally a fashion brand of the company founder. Skateboard ramps and parks have been designed under this name since 1988 and over 7,500 projects have been implemented in more than 30 countries to date. In addition to private individuals, clients were cities, municipalities and companies.

The most famous parks and events that the company has built include the Moscow skate park (Adrenalin Games 2007), the X Games facility in Barcelona (2002) and the European Skateboarding Championships in 2006 and 2007 in Basel . In addition, IOU-Ramps manufactures unique superstructures, for example for the Munich Trade Fair : For the MegaMiniRamp Contest 2008 , a 21 m wide and 11 m deep ramp was built just for the time of the trade fair. For the snowboard competition Ispo tow in 2006 , IOU designed a 60 m long and 20 m wide, ground-level snow slope on which various obstacles , rails , boxes, ledges and a wallride / quarter pipe construction were housed. With the help of two Skidoo and a line, the riders were pulled and so they got the speed they need to drive the course.

In addition to skate parks, the company also produces special constructions such as mobile skate ramps, for example, which can be transported on a car trailer, exhibition stands or even "skateable" shop fittings.

Materials and Security

The company's constructions are subject to EN 14974, which was specially developed for skate facilities, and consist primarily of larch and birch wood, metal and hot-dip galvanized steel . The all-weather surface Skatesmart was also developed in-house by the company. In order to guarantee a comparable safety standard for all systems, the company also became a member of the standards committee .
