IZH Jupiter

IZH Jupiter ( Russian Иж Юпитер ) stands for a motorcycle series of the Russian company Ischmasch from the city of Ischewsk .

IZH Jupiter 2 (without sidecar)

The motorcycles of this series have a two-cylinder in-line engine with a displacement of 350 cm³. These models were intended by the engineers for operation with a sidecar .

IZH Jupiter (1)

The IZH Jupiter motorcycle was the first two-cylinder motorcycle from the Russian motorcycle factory Ischmasch , which was produced there after the Second World War . The predecessor was the IZH-49 model (similar to the DKW NZ 350).

The Jupiter was produced together with the IZH-56 and represented a more powerful version with a two-cylinder two-stroke in-line engine on the same frame.

IZH Jupiter 2

The Jupiter 2 motorcycle is the successor to the IZH Jupiter. The engine output has been increased slightly to 19 hp.

Production took place from 1966 to 1970. Differences to the predecessor were e.g. B. The fixed front fender, as well as the tank, where the tank cap was now in the middle and no longer on the upper left side.

A new sidecar was also brought out for this model series, the so-called Sputnik 2. This sidecar is very popular with collectors today because of its contemporary design.

The first series of the Jupiter 3 was also delivered with this sidecar, until the significantly more angular Sputnik 3 was finally introduced.

IZH Jupiter 3

The Jupiter 3 was first launched in 1970 as the successor to the Jupiter 2. There is now a significant increase in engine power to 25 hp. The frame largely corresponds to the previous model.

The machine was visually noticeable because of its angular tank and new side covers. There were also changes to the chassis, where other shock absorbers were used, and the spring travel on the telescopic fork was increased.

Jupiter 3.01

Before the model change to the Jupiter 4, an optimized version of the Jupiter 3 was released, which was visually very different from the previous model. The design of the 70s now embodied a significantly sportier line, after the first series was still very much characterized by the appearance of the 2-series models.

The Jupiter 3.01 was painted in a turquoise color, and had a new taillight, as well as new exhaust systems and seat. The front fender was now significantly smaller and attached to the front wheel by means of struts.
