I Met the Walrus is a 2007 Canadian animated short film directed by Josh Raskin .

action

In 1969 Beatles fan Jerry Levitan interviewed John Lennon at a Toronto hotel and taped the interview. The audio track of the interview is transmitted in animation.

Levitan wants to know from Lennon what his current situation is regarding his attempted entry into the United States. Lennon realizes that they don't want him there because everyone thinks he's going to start a revolution. Others don't want him there because they believe he wants to create peace. He firmly believes that he will enter and replies when Levitan's question how the youth can help him that everyone should act in the name of peace. Everyone should ask a revolutionary when a revolution ever made military sense. Lennon calls for peaceful protest, as violence only creates counter-violence. At the same time everyone should work on their good side, since in every person not only God but also Hitler lives.

Levitan says that many classmates call the Bee Gees their favorite band and despise the Beatles as hippies, but Lennon says that these are bores who have not yet managed to break the cord from their parents' opinion. When Levitans stated that he believed he heard a message in the songs of the Beatles, Lennon said that there were always different messages at all levels. He had one in his head when he wrote the songs and later looked for one when he heard the songs again. The message is always above everything and nothing, and everything you think you understand is there too. It is like a flower that also combines everything in itself, which in turn can be seen if you only look at the flower long enough.

Lennon starts looking for a pen. He's talking to other people in the room. Levitan says goodbye to Lennon, in the background Yoko Ono wishes good luck and peace.
